about

we chose this song as our first release because it speaks to the origin of then there was us. the songs from ‘let’s do this together’ began as instrumental tracks. As they developed, we felt something was missing. Not me, us (interlude) always felt like it needed something different. a poem felt like the best way to express our thoughts about being lost and alone. With help from our talented friend, Ryan Roets (singer/songwriter) and his incredible wife, Madeline Roets, the interlude to our album was created.

lyrics

When sorrow met its shadow
Our hope fell silent
Lost
That it may be found in brighter seasons
We sink into our thoughts
Consumed
What good can come from fairytales and long forgotten dreams
This heart deprived of sunlight will unravel at the seams
And leave us broken
Still
We breathe

And in our broken hollow
We see the darkness of ourselves
Withering away in solitude
We starve
Absent in the many
The slow decline unwavering
We needed something more
Reaching out from the wreckage
Blindly grasping for anything
There's something
Something more

Even when we feeling like giving up
Even when we feel like letting go
There's a light on the horizon
That calls us home
A splinter of faith
Of something greater than ourselves
Still
We breathe

Tomorrow will be better
We've carried the countless flames
From wreckage to reward
We've seen the lows
We've seen the highs
And we choose to venture on
We choose to push for more
More healing
More happiness
More of us

For life is not won in salvation and status
To live with love
Is to understand the journey
